Colleena Shakti and students of Shakti School of Dance present an evening of sacred dance from the temples of East India.

Odissi is one of India’s 9 classical dance styles and originates in the Jagannath temple tradition of eastern Indian state of Odisha. Marked by its languorous postures, complex footwork and expressive mudra’s, Odissi is a lyrical dance on devotional poetry and sacred text. This evening of sacred dance will include group invocations, composition and solo story-telling (abhinaya) pieces.

Colleena Shakti is a senior disciple of Guru Sujata Mohapatra and has been teaching students in both Crete (at Villa Shakti Crete) during Summers and at her school in Rajasthan, India for the last 20 + years. Learn more at: www.colleenashakti.com
